Gaelic Language: Connecting People and Nature

Saturday 31st August, 10:30am - 4pm

We are delighted to be partnering with the Shieling Project to deliver a joint day of activities, all with a local Gaelic heritage focus!

In the morning, we’ll take a walk around Ceum an Daraich, the oak path, uncovering the stories behind our local place names and coming up with some of our own Gaelic names for the area. Then it's time for some lunch, which you can purchase with a 10% discount from An Nead, the Rewilding Centre café, before an afternoon of hands-on activities: willow weaving, wet felting, and bannock-making over the fire.

Immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings of Dundreggan, take part in traditional crafts, and all the while learn about the significance of Gaelic language and culture to our landscapes’ past, present, and future. You'll discover how our cultural heritage is intricately woven with both nature and history, reflecting the impact of various historical events on our community.

These activities are all family-friendly: under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Check in at the front desk on arrival for your 10% off voucher.

*Dietary Requirements*
We plan making bannocks during the afternoon, using oatmeal, plain flour (gluten), baking powder, salt and buttermillk (lactose): if you have any allergies or intolerances, please contact us in advance on info@visitdundreggan.co.uk or 01320 340 380, so that we can accommodate these.
